- Ventika Wind Farms
The new wind power installations are located in the municipality of General Bravo, in the State of Nuevo León, and will comprise 84 3-MW ACCIONA wind turbines.
In 2014, ACCIONA was awarded the contracts for the Ventika and Ventika II wind farms, signed with a company formed by Fisterra Energy, a company majority owned by funds managed by Blackstone, CEMEX and private investors. The start of the commercial operation is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2016, and it will beone of the largest wind farms in Latin America. In environmental terms, it will prevent the annual emission of more than 600,000 tons of CO2.
Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm is located 25 kilometres east of Colac and 17km west of Winchelsea in the Colac Otway Shire on Victoria’s Western Plains. The wind farm has been constructed around the southern and western sides of Mt Gellibrand itself. These open and partly elevated plains make the site an ideal location for a wind farm.
The site covers an area of about 29km², with a coastal exposure of nearly 11 kilometres. The Wind Farm consists of 33 two-megawatt wind turbines – generating enough green electricity to supply 35,000 homes every year.
