Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm

Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm is located 25 kilometres east of Colac and 17km west of Winchelsea in the Colac Otway Shire on Victoria’s Western Plains. The wind farm has been constructed around the southern and western sides of Mt Gellibrand itself. These open and partly elevated plains make the site an ideal location for a wind farm.

ACCIONA is committed to engaging with the local community surrounding the Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm project. We also acknowledge the importance and value of feedback (including both enquiries and complaints). We can be contacted via our free call community information hotline 1800 283 550, by email at, or by post PO Box 24110, Melbourne VIC 3001. Following on from this, construction commenced in April 2017. Civil, substation and electrical works are now all complete, laying the groundwork for commissioning and operations. The first electricity generation was achieved in June 2018, producing green energy for Victorian households.

The Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm brings significant economic activity and benefits to the Colac region:

  • Generated a construction peak workforce of 100-150 jobs.
  • Provides approximately 10 ongoing full time equivalent positions on site.
  • Delivers a diversified income for host landowners.
  • Provides a substantial increase in Colac Otway shire’s rates base.
  • Clean energy equivalent to the consumption of around 60,000 homes annually.
  • Establishment of a Shared Benefits Program to strategically deliver added value to the local region for the operational life of the project.
