- Berrimal Wind Farm
The Berrimal Wind Farm is proposed for a site 19km west of Wedderburn in the Buloke Shire of north western Victoria.
Planning approval was originally granted by Buloke Shire Council in 2007. In 2014, the Buloke Shire Council approved an amendment to the planning permit to allow for the use of contemporary wind turbine technology. ACCIONA has recently received an extension of time to commence construction of the Berrimal Wind Farm from Buloke Shire Council.
Location: Approximately 16 km west of Wedderburn and 19 km south of Charlton, within the Buloke Shire.
Project Configuration: Up to 24 turbines
Expected capacity: 72 MW
Energy production: Equivalent to 36,000 households
Project value: A$150M
Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm is located 25 kilometres east of Colac and 17km west of Winchelsea in the Colac Otway Shire on Victoria’s Western Plains. The wind farm has been constructed around the southern and western sides of Mt Gellibrand itself. These open and partly elevated plains make the site an ideal location for a wind farm.
The site covers an area of about 29km², with a coastal exposure of nearly 11 kilometres. The Wind Farm consists of 33 two-megawatt wind turbines – generating enough green electricity to supply 35,000 homes every year.
