The line runs through the historic centre with a free-fare zone and comprises a total of 33 stations; 21 32-m long trams will provide high-frequency service along the line.
CEMEX presented ACCIONA with the International Cemex Building Award in the infrastructure and urban planning category for the construction of the Zaragoza Tram, during the 22nd CEMEX Building Awards. This award recognizes the construction of the Zaragoza tram system as an urban integration project, which provides the city with sustainable infrastructure that meets the highest standards for safety, quality and efficiency.
The basic 35-year availability-based contract includes the design, construction of civil works, vehicles and systems, as well as the financing, operation and maintenance, and the provision of the rolling stock.
Phase one of the project is under steady operation and phase two is currently operational after construction was completed in December 2012.
ACCIONA was the lead partner of the Transcity Joint Venture, for the design, construction, operation and 10 year maintenance of the $1.5 billion Legacy Way project, in Brisbane, Queensland.
ACCIONA is the Principal Design and Construct JV partner of the ALTRAC consortium, awarded with the contract to design and construct the $2.1 billion Sydney CBD South East Light Rail.
